Magnesium deficiency (behaviors, anxiety and mood disruptions)

Magnesium is a natural mineral needed in the body and is often deficient for many children. Magnesium is needed each day for brain health, lowering anxiety, digestion, detoxification and heart health. Magnesium deficiency creates further vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Many children with Neuro-immune base disorders (Autism, ADHD, anxiety, OCD, mood disorders, learning disabilities) are stuck in the “fight or flight” sympathetic phase of the neurological system. In the sympathetic state; resting, calming, proper sleep and digesting are often compromised. Magnesium, Gaba and castor oil can all work together to help the body get into the parasympathetic state for calming, resting, and digesting. Magnesium alone can make a huge difference for calming the body, lowering anxiety, improving restful sleep, improving digestion, and slowing motor movements.

Many children with Neuro-immune base disorders have digestive issues. Inflammation and constipation are common issues for many children who struggles with moods, attention, or behaviors. Magnesium helps to regulate the digestive tract for children who have digestive or elimination disfunctions. Magnesium is natural and safer than a synthetic over the counter product used to aid digestion. Many products that are meant to help aid the digestive tract will deplete the body of Magnesium, include ingredients that are harmful to the digestive tract and cause inflammation.

Many children with Neuro-immune base disorders have low cellular energy and mitochondria dysfunction within the cells. According to Dr. Daniel Pompa DC, when cellular energy remains low, the immune system can be overburdened. According to Dr. Dale Bredeson M.D., Magnesium offers cellular support in the body. Increasing cellular energy with Magnesium is a great way to increase the strength of the immune system. When cells have energy, detoxification can occur properly. Magnesium creates energy in the body according to Morley Robbins, CHC. A strong immune system and high cellular energy allows the body to detoxify and fight off pathogens. Simply, magnesium helps a child stay in a healthy physical, behavioral and mental state.

Children are exposed to many dangerous EMF (electric magnetic frequencies) exposures. Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt M.D., Ph.D. reports that healing the body cannot happen when children are exposed to Wi-Fi in the home. Children are exposed to EMF’s through the home Wi-Fi, the school Wi-Fi, using a microwave, using a cell phone or using other handheld electronic devices. According to Brian Hoyer, a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner and certified Geobiologist, low Magnesium can result from EMF’s putting calcium in the muscles. Too much calcium in the muscles can pull out the magnesium levels. Brian Hoyer is the founder of shielded healing, which is an organization that identifies EMF stressors in your home. These stressors could be affecting mineral levels in a child’s body. When a child has an eye-twitch or restless legs, that can be a sign of a magnesium deficiency. Both eye twitching and restless legs are often seen in children with neuro-immune disorders.

Morley Robbins, CHC., stated that Magnesium and copper issues are the root cause of all disease. He also stated that a high histamine response is a result of a magnesium deficiency, low copper and a B6 deficiency. Many children with Neuro-immune base disorders (Autism, ADHD, anxiety, OCD, mood disorders, learning disabilities) have high histamine responses or mast cell activation syndrome so, a magnesium deficiency should be explored. Its very common for children with Autism and ADHD to have many environmental allergies, food intolerances, and food allergies.

When the body is going through dis-ease, mental health is always affected. The mind, body and spirit are always intertwined. Psychological distress could occur with a magnesium deficiency. Magnesium deficiency causes anxiety, depressed moods, headaches, hyperactivity, muscle cramps, and feelings of panic.

According to Morley Robbins, CHC., excess calcium can block magnesium. However, excessive magnesium helps calcium absorb better. Robbins feels that magnesium is more important in the body than calcium. Magnesium also regulates potassium levels in the body. When magnesium leaves the body, the body will be potassium deficient. A magnesium deficiency can also cause a zinc and B vitamins deficiency. Robbins said magnesium is the mineral of motion. The body is in a constant state of energetic motion. The energetic motion needs magnesium to work properly with no interruptions.

According to Dr. Tom Levy M.D., it’s safe to mega dose on Magnesium unlike any other mineral. Magnesium helps rebuild bones and Dr. Levy doesn’t think you need to supplement with calcium. Implementing magnesium can be done in a multitude of ways. Magnesium can be administered through child friendly supplements, natural and fragrant free Epsom salt baths, magnesium sprays and magnesium sulfate creams. Dr. Tami Wilkens, N.D., CNHP reported that a magnesium sulfate cream can help support the liver pathways. It’s very important that the magnesium supplement being used is tested for purity and doesn’t include harmful ingredients. Its also important for the Epsom salts and magnesium sprays to be free from fragrances that are hiding harmful chemicals. Many Magnesium sulfate creams have parabens in them, which are carcinogens. All magnesium products used on children should be as safe and natural as possible. Magnesium is a nurturing way to help a child’s body heal and function naturally.

Magnesium rich foods should be added as much as possible to a child’s diet. Foods that are rich in magnesium are: seaweed, dark cacao (chocolate), spinach, kale, avocado, banana, peas, broccoli, cabbage, green beans, artichokes, asparagus, nuts and seeds. Avoid spinach and nuts if your child has gut issues as they are high oxalate foods. To learn more about oxalates and oxidative stress you can go to nourishinghope.com to find a wealth of information from Julie Mathews. Bone broth is also magnesium rich. Bone broth helps the gut and joints, boosts detox, lowers inflammation, supports the brain and supports the immune system. Magnesium rich super foods are an easy effective way to improve your child’s moods, behaviors and immune system.
