Neuroacoustics- healing sound frequencies (sound therapy)

Neuroacoustics is known as the healing power of sound according to Dr. Jeffrey Thompson, DC. There is a strong connection between sound frequencies and healing. Sound is a tone that comes from a vibrational frequency. Sound frequencies can create healing the body and in the brain. Healing tones can be considered frequency medicine in the body. According to Dr. Jeffrey Thompson, DC. sound waves can influence brain waves, the nervous system, neural connections, behaviors, and feelings. Sound therapy can have instant calming results and can be used when a child needs assistance in calming their body. Sound therapy is a useful technique for improving a child’s behaviors, emotional regulation and immune system.

Scientific research in neuroplasticity tells us that the brain can heal and change. Neuroplasticity means the brain can adapt and continuously change. The brain has fluid changes and is not stagnant like a machine. The brain can change through energy frequencies that include sound according to Dr. Daniel Amen M.D. (psychiatrist, neuroscientist) It was stated by Dr. Amen that the brain can grow and change by increasing energy flow in the brain. We can create new cells and new neural connections within the brain. Due to neuroplasticity a child’s brain can change and heal. Using therapeutic sound frequencies can change the brain and calm the body naturally. Listening therapy is a non-invasive and safe therapy method for children. Listening therapy involves sound frequencies and healing the brain through vibrational sound frequencies.

Sound healing is known as sound therapy. Sound therapy, using healing sound frequencies, re-stores energetic balance in a distressed body. A child’s body needs internal energy and continual internal energetic movements to be happy and healthy. The body is run on energy and frequencies. The energetic pathways that carry frequencies are called meridians. Frequencies can either harm or help the body. Harmful frequencies disrupt the energetic pathways in the body. Frequencies that can harm the body are toxic substances, pathogens, physical trauma and emotional trauma. Toxins and pathogens put the body’s energetic frequencies into distress. Children who have distressed bodies can benefit from sound therapy.

Healing vibrational frequencies in the body can be completed by sound, light, color, movement, and water. Energetic frequencies in the body provide energy to the cells and can create new tissue growth. All objects have a vibrational frequency which is called a resonance. Every system of the body is in a state of vibration. When the body is in a state of dis-ease the vibrational resonance will be out of harmony. A child’s body could be in a state of disharmony energetically speaking. Internal frequencies need to be balanced and harmonized in the body. Harmful frequencies are typically occurring in the body if a child has a neuro-immune based disorder (Autism, ADHD, anxiety, OCD, mood dysregulation and learning disabilities). Harmful frequencies need to be recognized and treated. Healing frequencies should be implemented to re-store the energetic balance within the body.

The frequencies of classical music are not the same frequencies as sound therapy. Healing frequencies and classical music with a non-healing frequency has a different effect on the body. While classical music can be a part of music therapy practices, music therapy and sound healing are different methods. A frequency is measured as a hertz. A hertz is measured as one vibrational cycle per second. Sounds can be a healing hertz or a non-healing hertz within the body. Sounds that are a non-healing hertz can interrupt the circadian rhythm. The circadian rhythm is a 24-hour cycle in the physiological process our body goes through. The circadian rhythm is a natural sleep-wake cycle that should naturally occur every 24 hours in the body but can be disrupted for many children. Children with Autism and ADHD symptoms often have very disrupted circadian rhythms and challenges with the sleep-wake cycle.

A practical, easy and effective vibrational healing therapy method can be achieved through whole tone sounds. Sound therapy can also be done through binaural beats or integrative listening programs (ILS). Dr. Ron Minson, M.D. is an expert on the integrative listening system and the positive effects it has on the brain. Listening to the sounds through headphones is an effective way to get the benefits of sound therapy. Pairing sound therapy with other healing frequencies help enhance vibrational healing. Vibrational frequencies that can be paired are sound, light, color, movement, and hydration with water. A child could participate in sound therapy while getting color therapy, infared light therapy, PEMF, properly hydrating and taking part in movement exercises. Children get the most benefit from sound therapy if it is completed in 20 to 30-minute sessions once a day.

Healing frequencies can have a powerful effect on the brain and the body. Healing frequencies may need to be used very slowly and carefully for some children. When healing vibrational frequencies are used intensely, they can create the Herxheimer reaction in the body. The Herxheimer Reaction is an immune system reaction in the body. Children with neuro-immune based disorders (Autism, ADHD, anxiety, OCD, mood dysregulation and learning disabilities) typically have a high toxic overload in the body and pathogens in the body. A Herxheimer Reaction is the body reacting to the toxins (endotoxins) that are released when large amounts of pathogens are being killed off. The body reacts with an immune system response when it doesn’t eliminate the toxins quickly enough. Herxheimer reaction indicates that parasites, fungus, viruses, bacteria or other pathogens are being effectively killed off but not eliminated from the body fast enough. Herxheimer reaction can create flu-like symptoms including headache, joint and muscle pain, body aches, sore throat, lethargy, sweating, chills and nausea.

Sound can make significant changes to the brain waves in a child’s brain. Sound can balance the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system. Essentially, healing frequencies can re-wire the brain. With healing vibrational frequencies, the brain waves are trained to change. The brain is trained to utilize all brain waves called beta, delta, theda and alpha Many children who struggle with chronic hyperactivity, overstimulation and impulsivity have and imbalance of brain waves. Brain waves are often stuck in beta, delta or theda. These children struggle to move into alpha brain waves. Children who have limited alpha brain waves will have poor sleep. Brain wave imbalances prevent sleep. Alpha waves help with spacial awareness. Children who lack alpha brain waves can be dissociated from understanding the world around them. Children who hit others can’t imagine the person getting hurt. These children are checked out from emotions and feelings that are outside of their own experience. According to Dr. Patrick Porter PH.D., children with high beta brain waves will be hyperactive and children with high theda brain waves will be tired and withdrawn. Children need to have balanced brain waves each day.

The healing vibrational frequencies reduce stress, lower anxiety, lower depression, lower hyperactivity, improve sleep and calm the nervous system. Children who have a trauma background or just experience a high level of stress can experience limbic kindling. With limbic kindling the physical energy of emotions is stored neurologically and in the muscles. When the energy of stress and traumas are stored in the body, we re-wire the brain to be hypersensitive. A hypersensitive brain leads to significant chemical sensitivities. Children with a trauma background or some neuro-immune disorders (Autism, ADHD) often struggle with sleep. Sound therapy can help children fall asleep faster and stay asleep for longer periods of time.

With the healing vibrational frequencies, the body can move from the fight or flight phase to the parasympathetic phase of the neurological system. Most children with a neuro-immune based disorder are stuck in the sympathetic (fight or flight) phase. When the body is stuck in the fight or flight phase, the body is in distress. Fight or flight responses mean distress is happening in the body. All the energy in a distressed body is being used on fighting infections, fighting off foreign invaders(foods), producing histamine responses, producing inflammation, and producing hormones. Hormone production is needed for the fight or flight responses. A child’s body might be flooded with cortisol and adrenaline. Cortisol is a stress hormone. Cortisol shrinks the brain and puts a child in a constant stress state. Adrenaline increases the heart rate and blood flow. High levels of cortisol and adrenaline keep the body in a protective stress mode.

When the body is in a constant stress mode, the immune system will be working hard to protect itself. When the body is using its energy to protect itself, limited energy can go to talking, eye contact, social skills, or play skills. Balancing and re-storing the energy in a child’s body can be critical. When a child’s body can move into the parasympathetic phase of the neurological system a child will start developing language, eye contact, social skills and skills to calm their body. Sound therapy is a great tool for creating a balanced neurological system, energized cells, less anxiety, less depression, less hyperactivity, improved sleep and a harmonized body.
